  • Saturday, August 27 – Day 14

My grace is sufficient for you, for power is made perfect in weakness. 2 Cor. 12:9 Today was the 2nd day of outpatient chemo for Tom at MD Anderson Cancer Center. His treatments take about an hour to complete through an IV. Tom slept through most of his chemo today. His body is feeling the […]

  • Friday August 26 – Day 13

Good morning to our family and friends. As you have seen in earlier posts, Tom has a paper chain of daily healing words which our sister Laura made for him. Yesterday’s word was “BELIEVE”.  Well, Tom’s numbers continued to stabilize in the right direction yesterday… and… Tom was released from the hospital yesterday evening!  He […]

  • Wednesday, 24 Day 11

Today was a good day. Another day of Tom feeling good & ready to be home. A good indication that Tom may be going home tomorrow is that he has an appt on Friday at MD Anderson Cancer Center for outpatient chemo. When the Dr. comes in and says you are going home, we will […]

  • Tuesday 23rd – Day 10

Two Dr’s & a PA came in to visit Tom this morning. He was hoping that they had good news to tell him hat he could go home today. They want to keep Tom here for a few more days so that his numbers are a little more ideal. This is disappointing, however we understand […]

  • August 22 Day 9

Todays word from the love chain that Laura made is Compassion. Great Day! The Dr.’s are encouraged with Tom’s progress with his chemo! Could be as early as tomorrow, Tuesday, that Tom will be able to go home! If not tomorrow then sometime this week. YIPPEE! The team here at Banner Gateway has been amazing, […]

  • August 22

We had a 90th birthday dinner in Tucson for our dad Saturday night. Tom was not able to attend in person, due to his 30 day hospital stay. It broke our hearts not to have him there. We set up a Zoom meeting and he was at least able to participate somewhat. Fortunately, Dr. Jake […]

  • August 20 – Day 7

My sister Laura made a countdown chain for the remaining days of the predicted 30 day stay here at the hospital. Today we removed the first link in the chain, and it was very a appropriate word – “Kindness!” If there is one thing that has moved me to tears this past week, it has […]

  • August 19 Day 6

Good nights rest! Some drug adjustments to deal with nausea issues. Tom has been taking walks around the floor with his buddy Rick Steves. Most of the trips are You’re-a-peeing. He will be moving to a new room today because he is too healthy! This wing mostly takes the highly sick. Tom has stabilized well.
